Bc. Michal Fojtík
Michal Fojtík studied measurement and control technology at the Technical University of Ostrava, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Hydroponic cultivation, which was his hobby, subsequently connected with the development of a control system, designed particularly for this type of farming. In 2010, he first met aquaponics technology while he was traveling to California, USA. Since then he has been developing aquaponic systems in the Czech Republic. In 2016, he founded the Association of Aquaponic Farms and began to pursue modern farming as a full-time job. The main focus is pointed at research activities and cooperation with experts in individual segments of aquaponics.
His primary goal is to create a network of services and expert advice, which will increase awareness of the new way of growing plants and farming fish. He is devoted to lectures and educational courses. One of his greatest achievements so far is a lecture on aquaponic at the international conference in Shenzhen, China in 2018, where he lectured the audience from all around the world and established an important network. In the Czech Republic he is considered as an effective linkage between theoretical knowledge and practical use of aquaponics on an industrial scale.
Since 2016 he has been the chairman of the Association of Aquaponic Farms and has been dealing with complex problems related to aquaponics. Other prior activities are business opportunities recognition, presenting and publishing academic materials, research and development and many others. He deals with domestic and foreign clients. He is a member of a team dedicated to the development of a production aquaponic system for Central European conditions. Last but not least, as the chairman of the Association of Aquaponic Farms he has a long-term cooperation with important academic institutions, which are also research institutes. These universities actively participate in the research and development activities in the area of aquaponic systems and organic food. For instance the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague; Mendel University, Brno and Technical University of Ostrava.
